As IEHP’s Chief Quality Officer, he is responsible for advancing the quality journey in transformative ways to ensure that the Health Plan stays committed to providing the highest quality healthcare to its communities. For Dr. Juhn, quality is all about ensuring that people get the care they need when they need it to live their best and healthiest lives possible.

Dr. Juhn’s leadership in providing high-quality health care and his dedication to service made him a perfect fit to serve on the IEHP Foundation Board. He is an active board member and chairs the Community Impact Committee, which helps guide the development of the Foundation’s strategic plan and funding priorities.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending quality time with his wife and two daughters.

We asked Dr. Juhn a few questions about what it means to serve on the IEHP Foundation Board and how he hopes the Health Plan and Foundation will work collaboratively to improve the health and well-being of all residents in the region:

Q: Why did you join the IEHP Foundation Board?

A: I joined the board because I want the region to thrive. Through our work, I hope to collaboratively and impactfully empower all communities in the IE to improve their health and well-being.

It is an honor and privilege to be part of the Foundation to serve the people of the Inland Empire.

Q: How do you envision IEHP and the Foundation collaborating to support the region?

A: Providing high-quality healthcare is not limited to managing and treating illnesses. Preventive care and supporting whole-person health are equally important. That is why it’s important to leverage the best IEHP has to offer alongside the best the Foundation has to offer to ensure the communities and neighborhoods our members and residents live in are healthy. The Foundation aims to work with community partners to collectively and holistically improve overall health and well-being throughout the IE. By aligning our intentions, focus, and efforts, we can leverage the best resources from both the Foundation and Health Plan to support the region.

The Foundation is also situated ideally to tap into the community and empower individuals and local change-makers to create impactful and meaningful change from within.

What are some of the strengths/opportunities within the Inland Empire?

A: Despite its massive geographic size (larger than some states), there is a true sense of community and belonging in the region.

The IE has a unifying desire to be empowered and supported to create transformational change. This presents a unique opportunity for the region to utilize the collective power of its residents and community partners to bring about positive change and address the region’s needs. The IE can leverage its strength to create a more equitable and healthier region by working together towards a common goal.

Q: What do you feel is the biggest challenge facing the region?

A: We know that there are significant health and socioeconomic disparities across the Inland Empire, which limit opportunity and growth. We must provide more opportunities to address these health disparities and improve access to higher-quality health care, including preventive and wellness services.

This challenge allows the Foundation to collaborate with community members and partners to create favorable health outcomes.

Q: What is your favorite place to visit in the IE?

A: My family and I enjoy exploring the San Bernardino National Forest. It is extraordinary that we can easily access a national forest within a 20-minute drive. We love to enjoy the creeks, trails and just the natural beauty.

Q: What does “inspiring and igniting Vibrant Health” mean to you?

A: We provide excellence to the people we serve in the region.

Vibrant Health goes beyond addressing a need; it is about meeting our communities where they are and equipping them with the support and resources to meet their health, wellness and core needs and improve their quality of life and wellbeing to live full and healthier lives.
